FIAT LUX -    “LET THERE BE LIGHT!”

Fiat Lux, Latin for “Let there be Light,” is the theme for this exhibit. Light restores the earth to a state of beauty and order. Bringing clarity and direction to how a person lives their life is referred to as “being enlightened.”

Light is illumination and intelligence.

Light is the source of goodness and the ultimate reality. Light has always been a symbol of holiness, goodness, knowledge, wisdom, beauty, grace and hope and is used as a metaphor for the spread of wisdom.

UC Berkeley’s motto, Fiat Lux, “brings new knowledge to light, illuminates solutions for bettering the human condition, and serves as a beacon of opportunity for promising young minds and top faculty.”

As we are in the “back to school” season, and as students are heading back on campuses, we are inspired by UC Berkeley’s motto of “Fiat Lux.”  Both my parents are Cal Alumni and huge proponents of education, as well as the Cal campus, the town of Berkeley, and the surrounding Northern California- San Francisco Bay Area.

“Where there is darkness, let there be Light!”
